Apple:

App Development with Swift is a full-year course designed by Apple engineers and educators to teach students elements of app design using Swift, one of the world’s most popular programming languages. Students will learn to code and design fully functional apps, gaining critical job skills in software development and information technology.

This is fantastic. This should be offered at every high school in the country. Programming belongs in every good math curriculum.

My programming class in high school was one of the most valuable experiences I had as a student. And it was one of the few times when I was really engaged with a class. I would even work ahead because I was so enthusiastic about what I could build.

Back then, we worked in a lab of Molar Macs and we learned Java using CodeWarrior on Mac OS 9. It was great, but I didn't stay with it and learn Objective-C or Xcode. All this can be self-taught, but not everyone has the patience and the discipline. A good teacher and a guided curriculum that gradually introduces higher concepts is so valuable. I would love to take this Swift course.
